Captain's Log
The day/night cycle was running on local system time, which meant two players in the same room could look up and see completely different skies. One at dusk, one at noon. It sounds minor until you realize how much of the world's atmosphere — literal and otherwise — depends on that shared light.
Moved the cycle onto the simulation clock today. Now every client reads from the same source, so dawn breaks for everyone at once. It was a cleaner fix than I expected, which made me suspicious, so I sat with it longer than I probably needed to.
Still watching it. There are edge cases around clients joining mid-cycle that I haven't fully resolved — the sky snapping into place on load isn't pretty. But the core thing is right now, and that matters. A shared world should feel shared. Something as basic as the sky being the same for everyone was a gap I'm glad to finally close.
